Adeleke Imposes 24-Hour Curfew On Igbajo After Overnight Unrest

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has ordered an immediate and total lockdown of Igbajo in Boluwaduro Local Government Area following a breakdown of law and order that lasted from Sunday night into the early hours of Monday.
The directive followed intelligence reports from the Office of the Special Adviser on Security, Barr. Samuel Ojo.

The 24-hour curfew, which takes immediate effect, was imposed due to escalating tensions among residents, reportedly linked to the recent death of Prince Adegboyega Famodun, who passed away last Saturday after a brief illness.
Announcing the curfew in a statement, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, said Governor Adeleke condemned the unrest, stressing that his administration will not tolerate any act of civil disobedience capable of disrupting the peace currently enjoyed across the state.
Governor Adeleke warned both natives and non-natives of Igbajo to maintain peace, adding that anyone found fueling or engaging in violence, whether openly or secretly, would face the full weight of the law.
“It is with deep shock and dismay that I received the sad news of the breakdown of law and order in Igbajo last night,” the governor said. “My administration will not fold its arms and watch any community descend into chaos.”
He directed a joint team of security personnel, including the Army, Police, DSS, and NSCDC, to commence round-the-clock surveillance and take full control of the town until normalcy is restored.
Governor Adeleke also reiterated his condolences to the family of the late Prince Famodun and the entire Igbajo community, praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.
