Former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Najeem Folasayo Salaam, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Oba Philip Adegboyega Famodun, the late Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State and traditional ruler of Igbajo.

In a heartfelt condolence message issued on behalf of his family, supporters and associates, Dr. Salaam described the late monarch as a friend, mentor and trusted ally whose passing feels “deeply personal.”

He recalled that their bond was built during their time together in the APC, when Oba Famodun led the party as state chairman and he served as Speaker of the State Assembly.

Despite later finding themselves on different political paths, Salaam noted that their friendship remained unshaken.

According to him, the respect they shared “transcended party lines, ambitions, or convictions,” making the monarch’s death a painful loss not just to the APC family but to all who valued his leadership and character.

He extended his condolences to the deceased’s immediate family, the Gbeleru Royal House, and the people of Igbajo, praying that God grants them strength during the period of grief.

Salaam also offered thanks to God for the late Oba’s impactful life, describing him as a leader committed to service and the upliftment of others.

He prayed that the Almighty grant the departed eternal rest and comfort all who mourn him.
