Osun NULGE Debunks False Claims by Sunday Akere and Sacked Boluwaduro LG Chairman
The Osun NULGE, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees has strongly refuted the recent claims made by Mr. Sunday Akere and the sacked Chairman of Boluwaduro Local Government, Alhaji Bayo Oyekanmi, regarding the resumption of local government workers at council secretariats.
The union’s President, Dr. Nathaniel Ogungbangbe, clarified that the individuals referenced by Akere and Oyekanmi were not NULGE members, dismissing their statements as misleading and baseless.
NULGE Denies Workers’ Resumption at Secretariats
Dr. Ogungbangbe expressed disappointment over the misinformation being spread, stressing that the reported gathering at various council secretariats did not involve legitimate local government staff.
“The gathering they referenced did not consist of our staff. Our findings confirm that no local government worker participated in their event,” he stated.

He emphasized that all Osun State local government employees remain absent from their respective secretariats in full compliance with the union’s directive.
“Our stand remains unchanged—no staff is reporting to the council offices. Any information suggesting otherwise is false and intended to mislead the public,” Dr. Ogungbangbe added.
The union leader also debunked claims that government workers resumed duty at the secretariats of Atakumosa West Local Government and Isokan Local Government.
“No single NULGE member went to Atakumosa West LG. Any assertion to the contrary is a deliberate falsehood,” he declared.
NULGE Urges Public to Disregard Misinformation
Dr. Ogungbangbe strongly urged the public to ignore the misleading claims by Akere and Oyekanmi. He reassured local government workers in Osun State that the union remains steadfast in protecting their collective rights and welfare.
He also warned against the deliberate spread of falsehoods, emphasizing that any attempt to manipulate public perception regarding the status of local government employees would be met with strong resistance from NULGE.
“Our commitment is to the welfare and unity of all Osun local government employees. We will not allow false narratives to disrupt our struggle,” he affirmed.
The NULGE President further reiterated that the union would continue to stand firm in ensuring that workers’ rights are not violated and that the public is correctly informed about the situation.
With this latest statement, NULGE has set the record straight, ensuring that no misinformation or deceptive claims overshadow the union’s ongoing efforts to protect its members.
