Babafemi Ojudu, the former Special Adviser on Political Matters to former President Muhammadu Buhari, has revealed how he planned to remove former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose from office. Ojudu revealed that he worked with former President Olusegun Obasanjo to plan and write the script for Fayose’s impeachment.

This was revealed by the former presidential adviser during an appearance on Edmund Obilo’s State Affairs podcast, which aired Thursday morning.

Ojudu claims, “I planned and wrote the screenplay for Fayose’s impeachment in Ekiti.” When he saw I was using Obasanjo, he retaliated against me.I signed a deal that said Fayose should be impeached, but I also made sure his deputy wasn’t. I brought all of the MPs to Lagos, where I housed them in hotels, fed them, and walked them around.I was a wealthy journalist who received funding from my friends; I was not a senator. They were not pleased with him, so I took advantage of that weakness.

Infuriated, Obasanjo ordered the deputy governor’s troops to go back to Ekiti and declare herself the new governor. I called people to oppose her when she arrived, and they were forced to declare an emergency.

“You have no honor and integrity,” Justice Daramola said to Fayose after I went to court and presented my case in response to his libel lawsuit against me, which I was represented by Falana.

In the gubernatorial elections, Fayose defeated incumbent Governor Niyi Adebayo to become the second governor of Ekiti on May 29, 2003.

He was impeached on October 16, 2006, which ended his reign.
