The notification states that in observance of the death of former US President Jimmy Carter, the US Embassy in Nigeria will close on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
“We honor former President Jimmy Carter, who tirelessly for democracy, human rights, and peace.”He promoted Nigeria’s democratic process and improved US-Nigeria ties as the country’s first US president.
We are still motivated by his legacy and Jimmy Carter died at the age of 100 on December 29, 2024.
