PDP Crisis Deepens as Lagos Deputy Chairman Accuses Jandor of Party Division
Jandor’s Exit Ends PDP’s Internal Struggles – Tai Benedict
The Deputy Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tai Benedict, has accused the party’s 2023 governorship candidate, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, of destabilizing the party. This allegation follows Jandor’s recent visit to President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja and his subsequent resignation from the PDP.
Jandor had announced his departure from the party, citing internal sabotage, anti-party activities, and a lack of discipline within the PDP. However, Benedict insists that Adediran’s exit marks the resolution of the party’s problems in Lagos State, alleging that his candidacy significantly weakened the party’s structure.

Adediran’s Influence Weakened Lagos PDP – Benedict
In an interview with Punch, Benedict expressed relief over Jandor’s departure, blaming him for the party’s internal crisis. He claimed that Adediran manipulated the party’s structure from the national level down to the state, ultimately leading to PDP’s poor performance in the 2023 Lagos governorship election.
“He (Adediran) came to destroy the party. His candidature destroyed the party more than ever before. He bought everything from the national to the state. Those who supported him in the party have realised their mistakes. Adediran’s departure from the party signified the end of the party’s problems,” Benedict stated.
The PDP deputy chairman further claimed that he had warned party members about Adediran’s political background, emphasizing that he was originally from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I personally told them he is from the APC, and I am vindicated now. He was never a strong person in the party. We have never performed so poorly in a governorship election in Lagos State as we did under his leadership,” he added.
Jandor’s Visit to Tinubu Raises Questions
Benedict also commented on Adediran’s meeting with President Bola Tinubu, suggesting that it confirmed suspicions about his true political loyalties. He insinuated that Jandor was planted in the PDP to weaken the party from within.
“He (Adediran) went to meet President Tinubu maybe to inform him that he has accomplished his mission in PDP. He was a missionary in the PDP.
“He disorganized the party. It has never happened like this before in our party. There is no party where the President does not have his imprint. May God help us in this country,” Benedict remarked.
PDP Seeks to Rebuild After Jandor’s Exit
While Benedict admitted that losing a party member is never ideal, he argued that Jandor’s departure would ultimately benefit the PDP.
“Losing a member of the party is not good enough, but if it is a double-edged sword, it is better for us to lose a bad package than to still want to keep it. It is better for the party to lose Jandor than anything else,” he stated.
Jandor’s exit marks a turning point for the Lagos PDP, which has struggled to challenge the APC’s dominance in the state. As the party navigates its post-Jandor era, political analysts speculate on its chances of restructuring and presenting a formidable challenge in future elections.
