As Nigeria grapples with escalating economic challenges, the Noble Merry Empowerment Foundation has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to tackling hunger, malnutrition, and poverty, particularly among vulnerable families across Lagos and other parts of the country. At the unveiling of its new head office in Lagos, the foundation’s Managing Director, Mrs. Ogechi Iwunze-Anthony, emphasized the importance of collective efforts in securing the well-being of society’s most disadvantaged members.

In her remarks during the ceremony, Iwunze-Anthony described the foundation’s mission as deeply rooted in the philosophy of communal upliftment. “At Noble Merry, we believe in the maxim – ‘We rise by lifting others.’ This guiding principle informs every programme we execute and every family we support,” she stated.

A New Headquarters for a Growing Mission

The event to open the new office began with a spiritual blessing led by two Catholic priests: Rev. Father Joseph Ozo of St. Jesus the Saviour Catholic Church and Rev. Father Pascal Aggrey of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ikorodu. Their presence underlined the moral and humanitarian foundation of Noble Merry’s work.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was conducted by Mrs. Oge Nweke, a respected legal professional and mentor to Iwunze-Anthony. The occasion was attended by numerous beneficiaries of the foundation’s various initiatives, including schoolchildren, who arrived with their teachers in a show of appreciation and solidarity.

Explaining the presence of the students, Iwunze-Anthony noted that the foundation operates a unique programme called “Back to School.” This initiative supports indigent children by covering their school fees and providing essential learning materials such as textbooks, uniforms, and stationery.

“Education is a right, not a privilege,” she said. “Through this programme, we ensure that children from underprivileged backgrounds can return to school equipped with the tools they need to succeed. It’s not just about feeding the body, but also nurturing the mind.”

Tackling Hunger Head-On

Another cornerstone of Noble Merry Empowerment Foundation’s outreach is its “Street Feeding” programme. Through this initiative, the organisation organizes regular food drives to feed the homeless and other vulnerable populations directly on the streets of Lagos.

“This is about more than food,” Iwunze-Anthony said. “It’s about restoring dignity and hope. When people see that someone cares, they are reminded that they are not alone, and that can be the first step toward transformation.”

She acknowledged the widespread impact of rising inflation and job losses in Nigeria, which have made even basic food items unaffordable for many families. In response, the foundation has intensified its outreach, distributing foodstuffs and household items to help families bridge the gap and meet daily needs.

Sustained by Kindness and Vision

Despite the scale of its operations, Noble Merry Empowerment Foundation does not rely on government support. Instead, it is funded entirely by private donations from a network of compassionate individuals. According to Iwunze-Anthony, the foundation’s board comprises vision-driven people who are passionate about social change.

“Our funding model is unique in that it is entirely community-based. We rely on the goodwill of people who share our vision. Friends, supporters, and board members give generously, and that’s what keeps us going,” she revealed.

The managing director also praised the sense of unity and generosity that fuels the foundation’s efforts. “We may not be the biggest organisation, but we are rich in love and purpose. Every bag of rice, every school fee paid, every smile on a child’s face—that’s the reward we live for.”

Expanding Reach, Inspiring Change

With the establishment of a new head office, the Noble Merry Empowerment Foundation aims to expand its reach and professionalize its operations. The new facility will serve as a central hub for programme coordination, volunteer training, and community engagement efforts.

As the event wrapped up, Iwunze-Anthony reiterated her belief in the power of collaboration and compassion. “We are here not just to run an NGO, but to build a movement—one that believes no child should go hungry, no student should be out of school, and no human being should be forgotten.”

She extended an open invitation to more Nigerians to support the foundation’s work. “The need is great, but so is our resolve. We invite everyone—corporate bodies, religious institutions, and individuals—to join hands with us. Together, we can rewrite the story of hunger and poverty in Nigeria.”

With heartfelt commitments and growing community support, the Noble Merry Empowerment Foundation continues to serve as a beacon of hope, proving that sustainable change begins with a single act of kindness.
