“ADC Debunks Crisis Rumors, Reinforces Unity Ahead of 2027 Coalition Push”
In a swift move to address growing speculation, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has firmly dismissed claims of internal turmoil as it advances with coalition arrangements for the 2027 general elections. The party described the crisis reports as false narratives being peddled by “retrogressive elements” intent on disrupting its strategic progress.
Deputy National Secretary of the party, Nkem Ukandu, clarified the party’s stance in a statement released on Monday in Abuja. He emphasized that the ADC remains anchored on the principles that birthed it, asserting that unity, inclusion, and coalition-building are fundamental values that guide their current political maneuvers.

“Alliance at the Core: ADC Prioritizes Unity”
Ukandu maintained that the ongoing coalition efforts are not borne out of desperation but are the result of thoughtful, inclusive consultations. According to him, the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) had already granted unanimous approval before any coalition agreements were pursued.
“The African Democratic Congress remains firmly united and guided by the same founding principles that have kept us strong and consistent over the years,” Ukandu stated. “Handshake has always been in our DNA—not out of desperation, but because we believe in inclusive governance and coalition-building.”
Further emphasizing the party’s commitment to transparency, Ukandu disclosed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had been present at multiple NEC meetings. These gatherings, he explained, were not just internal deliberations but included coalition observers and independent oversight, reaffirming the legitimacy of the party’s process.
He noted that four NEC meetings were held in 2024 at the NICON Luxury Hotel in Abuja, each carefully designed to strengthen the party’s resolve and align with its strategic coalition partners. Ukandu added that the presence of INEC at these meetings underscores ADC’s dedication to process integrity and lawful political engagement.
“These sessions were not held in secrecy; rather, they were inclusive and procedural,” Ukandu affirmed. “Our aim is simple—build a united front to lead Nigeria toward a better future.”
He cautioned that attempts by external forces, particularly under the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government, to create rifts within the ADC would not succeed. The ruling party, he said, is afraid of the momentum ADC is gaining through strategic alliances, and is therefore pushing disinformation to destabilize opposition efforts.
“Any external force attempting to disrupt our progress or sow confusion within our ranks will ultimately fail. ADC is focused, united, and unstoppable,” he said. “No matter the political shenanigans of the APC-led government, they cannot derail this moving train.”
Ukandu also dismissed as baseless the allegations that recent party engagements lacked internal consensus or were rushed. According to him, the party’s leadership ensured that every decision, especially on coalition matters, went through the proper channels and received NEC endorsement.
He further assured party members and supporters that the ADC remains committed to rescuing the country from its current political and economic challenges. In his words, the coalition drive is not a shortcut to power, but a calculated step toward building a stronger, more inclusive Nigeria.
“Our objective is clear. This is not a vanity campaign—it’s a patriotic duty to restore hope to Nigerians,” Ukandu stressed. “We are not distracted by propaganda. ADC remains on course.”
As the 2027 elections approach, the ADC continues to position itself as a key player in the unfolding political landscape. With strategic partnerships in progress and a reaffirmed internal unity, the party appears undeterred by external pressures or misinformation campaigns.
Ukandu concluded by calling on all stakeholders to remain vigilant, united, and committed to the party’s overarching mission: delivering credible, inclusive, and accountable leadership to the Nigerian people.
