A Founding APC Member Seeks a New Political Home
El-Rufai, one of the founding members of the APC, played a crucial role in securing the party’s electoral victories in 2015, 2019, and 2023. As governor of Kaduna State, his administration prioritized human development, education, healthcare, infrastructure, job creation, and investment.
Despite his contributions to the party’s success, he cited concerns over governance issues and internal party dynamics, which ultimately led to his decision to part ways with the APC.
“At this point in my political journey, I must seek another political platform for the pursuit of the progressive values I cherish,” El-Rufai declared.

“As a member of the SDP, I am committed to fostering a unified democratic platform to challenge the APC in upcoming elections,” he said.
Encouraging like-minded Nigerians to join him in building a strong political alternative, El-Rufai emphasized the importance of creating a Nigeria that stands as a beacon of pride for Africa and the Black Race.
He concluded his statement with a call for unity and progress, pledging to dedicate his efforts toward enhancing Nigeria’s democratic landscape.
