Salihu Lukman, a former National Vice Chairman, North West, of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, has urged Nigerians to take action and make sure that President Bola Tinubu and the ruling party lose the general election in 2027.

In a statement released on Thursday, Lukman stated that Nigerians must concentrate on creating a political party that operates well and adheres to its own set of laws if this is to be accomplished.

He emphasized that the APC, PDP, Labour Party, LP, New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, and all other currently registered political parties in the nation must be significantly different from such a viable political party.

Nigerians may once again fall short of their hopes for free, fair, and credible elections, he stated. Alternatively, as was the case in 2015, we might have reasonably free, fair, and credible elections in 2027, which might only lead to the APC and President Bola Tinubu’s defeat. This would carry the risk of maintaining the status quo by producing emperor-style leaders who would only ostentatiously pledge to address Nigeria’s problems.

In order to defeat the APC and President Asiwaju in 2027, we Nigerians must rise to the occasion and, above all, ensure that really democratic leaders—not emperors—are elected.

“This should focus on effectively setting up a political party so that party leaders can emerge.” through internal competition at every level.

“The process by which potential candidates are forced to run for office by party officials, who then declare them the winners, needs to end.

“The status quo is simply maintained once the process of founding a new party is unable to ensure internal competition and use it to develop leaders of the party.”
