NULGE Suspends Five Members Over Unauthorized Call for Workers’ Resumption

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has indefinitely suspended five members for calling for the resumption of local government workers despite ongoing security concerns.

The suspension was declared today at an emergency state Executive council Meeting comprising branch Chairmen and State Administrative council Members.

The suspended individuals are:

Tirimisiyu Adekunle Adedayo     – Egbedore Local Government

Akinkunmi Adepoju – Ori Ade Local Government

Iyiola Bamidele – Ilesa East Local Government

Kehinde Babalola – Obokun Local Government

Ayeni Ojo Johnson – Ilesa West Local Government

The Osun State President of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Dr. Nathaniel K. Ogungbangbe reaffirmed the union’s stance, stating that NULGE remains a united body without factions.

He dismissed the group calling itself the Association of Concerned Local Government Workers, clarifying that they are not recognized members of the union.

Ogungbangbe further confirmed that the respective local governments and the Local Government Service Commission will be officially informed of the suspensions.

NULGE reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of local government workers before considering any resumption, warning against unauthorized actions that could compromise their well-being.

It will be recalled that the suspended members at a press conference paraded themselves as members of another known as Association of Concerned Local Government Workers, giving untrue statements about NULGE and directing members to resume work.
