During a routine sweeping exercise, DSS agents reportedly found a cache of pump-action rifles and live cartridges in the office of Mudashiru Obasa, the former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly’s Chief Security Officer (CSO).
Sources inside the Assembly claim that the weapons were safely kept in the CSO’s office. The DSS was notified right away, and agents were sent to inventory the weapons and safeguard them while additional investigation was conducted.
According to a source, assembly officials found a stack of guns in the speaker’s CSO’s office, carefully stored.

“They promptly notified the DSS, who dispatched their personnel to inventory the weapons and detain them pending further investigation.”

Accusations and Rebuttals

Because of the scale of the material, some Assembly members have speculated that the discovery may be connected to arms dealing.

Speaking under anonymity, a politician told TheCable that Obasa is “desperate to return” to office in order to “tidy things up.”

In all of this, the new and accountable Assembly leadership has contributed. The DSS and other pertinent authorities are free to play their part in the remaining portion,” a member stated.

“The public doesn’t fully understand our message when we say that the Assembly has had enough of Obasa. We are much more certain that President Bola Tinubu, our leader, opposes his excesses and his determination to erode state democracy.

Obasa’s Reaction

Although Obasa has not yet responded to the revelation in public, a former Speaker’s acquaintance dismissed the accusations as part of a “smear campaign” to keep him from taking back his job.

At the moment, Obasa is contesting his dismissal as Speaker, claiming that it was unlawful and that he is still the rightful third-ranking citizen of Lagos State.

DSS Investigation Continues

The weapons have been seized by the DSS, which is anticipated to begin a thorough investigation into their provenance, intended use, and legality of acquisition.
