Osun NULGE Denies Allegations Against President, Warns Of Legal Action

The Osun State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has dismissed a report alleging that its President, Comrade Nathaniel Ogungbangbe, plotted to sell union property worth N240 million.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Comrade Owoeye David Olalekan, the union described the publication, authored by Akin Adeyi, as false and mischievous, aimed at blackmailing and tarnishing the image of the state president.
NULGE Debunks Report On Strike Suspension, Insists Workers Remain United
“For the avoidance of doubt, neither Comrade Ogungbangbe nor any member of his leadership team has ever contemplated, initiated, or executed any plan to sell the property of our great union,” the statement read.
NULGE said the report was an attempt to cause disunity among members and distract the union from its mandate, particularly its ongoing resistance against alleged moves by the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) to divert Osun local government allocations to sacked chairmen.
The union noted that it would formally invite the writer of the report to present verifiable evidence to substantiate his claims. Failure to do so, it said, would leave the union with no choice but to pursue legal action, including a possible defamation suit.
While urging members and the general public to disregard the publication, NULGE stressed that its leadership under Comrade Ogungbangbe remains focused on protecting the rights and welfare of local government workers in Osun State.
“We will not allow mischief-makers and their sponsors to sow seeds of discord among our members,” the union stated, reiterating its commitment to unity and workers’ welfare.
