In the Ajegunle Powerline community in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, five farmers have reportedly been killed by armed men who are thought to be herdsmen.

According to reports, the victims were farmworkers from the states of Kaduna and the Plateau.

According to an eyewitness testimony, the herders destroyed their crops and interfered with their livelihood in the community during the incident, which happened at approximately 3:00 pm on Tuesday.

The source, who is also a farmer, said that the attacks have become commonplace and that many farmers have left their properties out of fear of being killed.
He bemoaned the fact that farmers’ lives are in jeopardy, that many have been slaughtered, and that their wives are occasionally raped.

Five individuals were killed when the herders suddenly emerged and began shooting intermittently, according to one of the laborers who managed to escape and survive the onslaught.

The event was confirmed by CSP Funmilayo Odunlami, the Ondo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer.
She stated that the authorities were still looking into the incident, thus she was unable to provide an accurate number of casualties.
