Member representing Agege Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Wale Ahmed, has openly declared that President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 is “guaranteed.” Speaking during a stakeholders’ briefing held at the Agege Local Government Secretariat on Monday, Ahmed urged opposition parties to abandon their aspirations of unseating the president, arguing that Tinubu deserves a second term in line with Nigeria’s democratic tradition.

The lawmaker, addressing a large gathering of political leaders, traditional rulers, market associations, and residents, emphasized fairness and continuity as the basis for Tinubu’s reelection. According to him, just as former President Muhammadu Buhari from the North completed two terms in office, it is only right for Tinubu, who hails from the South, to enjoy the same opportunity.

“Late President Muhammadu Buhari, from the North, served two terms, so Tinubu should also have his second term. By God’s grace, his second term is assured. I will mobilize my constituents to ensure Tinubu is returned for another term,” Ahmed declared. He added that “all his opponents should rest and allow him to have a second term. All opposition should simply rally round and support Tinubu.

Tinubu’s Reforms and Economic Policies Praised

Wale Ahmed strongly defended President Tinubu’s controversial decision to remove fuel subsidy, a move that initially sparked widespread discontent across the country due to rising costs of living. According to the lawmaker, the policy reflects the president’s courage and his willingness to make difficult decisions for the nation’s long-term economic stability.

He explained that the government’s “financial re-engineering” efforts were beginning to bear fruit. Ahmed pointed to a series of economic indicators, including an increase in Nigeria’s foreign reserves to over $40 billion, growing inflows of foreign direct investment, and a gradual reduction in inflation. He also highlighted the successful disbursement of ₦90 billion in student loans as part of the administration’s efforts to empower young Nigerians.

“These bold reforms may appear painful in the short term, but the benefits are already showing. Tinubu is laying a solid foundation for sustainable economic growth,” Ahmed said.

Ongoing Infrastructure Projects as Evidence of Progress

The Agege lawmaker further praised the president for accelerating long-delayed infrastructural projects across the country. Among them, he highlighted the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto–Badagry superhighway, and the rehabilitation of the Abuja–Kano dual carriageway.

He described these projects as monumental, stressing their potential to transform economic activity by connecting states, opening up rural communities, and creating jobs. Ahmed noted that the Sokoto–Badagry expressway had been a paper project for more than 40 years until President Tinubu’s administration brought it to life.

“Tinubu’s foreign trips are yielding Nigeria respect abroad. The Sokoto–Badagry expressway will not only link communities but will also serve as an economic corridor for people in multiple states,” he stated.

Lawmaker’s Constituency Projects Lauded

During the briefing, Wale Ahmed also took time to reel out his achievements as the representative of Agege Federal Constituency. He listed youth and women empowerment programs, provision of boreholes and solar streetlights, food palliatives for vulnerable households, and medical outreach programs as part of his interventions.

Other projects include classroom construction for schools in the area, scholarships for indigent students, and various skill acquisition initiatives designed to empower residents with vocational training. Ahmed stressed that his commitment to grassroots development aligns with the president’s broader agenda of delivering dividends of democracy.

“My priority is to ensure that the lives of my constituents reflect the positive impact of government. What we are doing in Agege is in line with President Tinubu’s vision for the country,” he said.

Community Leaders Endorse Tinubu’s Leadership

The event, which brought together political and community stakeholders, saw local leaders commending Ahmed for his stewardship and pledging continued support for the president. Among those present were Agege Local Government Chairman, Tunde Azeez, and his Orile-Agege counterpart, Abiodun Idowu. Traditional rulers, market leaders, and representatives of various community organizations also attended, echoing Ahmed’s call for unity in backing Tinubu for a second term.

Stakeholders praised the lawmaker for ensuring that his constituency benefited from federal initiatives while also driving independent development projects at the grassroots level. They agreed that Tinubu’s administration has shown signs of progress and should be supported to consolidate its reforms in a second term.

Wale Ahmed’s strong declaration of President Bola Tinubu’s “guaranteed” second term reflects a growing sentiment among supporters of the administration who believe that continuity is necessary for Nigeria’s stability and growth. By drawing parallels with former President Buhari’s two-term tenure, Ahmed argued that Tinubu’s leadership deserves the same democratic opportunity.

With economic reforms, infrastructure projects, and social interventions forming the bedrock of Tinubu’s achievements so far, his allies believe that opposition parties should reconsider their ambitions and instead support ongoing national development efforts. For Ahmed and his constituents in Agege, the mission is clear: to rally behind the president and ensure his return to office in 2027.
