Wike Commends Supreme Court Judgment, Calls It A Victory For Justice

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has praised the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the Rivers State House of Assembly.
According to news reports, Wike stated that Martins Amaewhule’s status as the legitimate speaker of the House has been validated by the Supreme Court’s decision.

The former governor of Rivers State said during a press conference following the ruling of the highest court on Friday that the Supreme Court upheld the idea that democracy cannot exist without the legislative branch.

Justice has been served, he said, even though it may have moved slowly over the previous 15 months.

“There is nothing like the Amaewhule faction,” he said. The Supreme Court stated that an assembly that is duly constituted—that is, the genuine legislature headed by Martins Amaewhule—should be supplied with the budget. First and foremost, though, let us give God the credit and praise he deserves. As I have always stated, the wheel of justice is slow, but it will turn when it is supposed to. Today, February 28, 2025, is no exception. The nation’s highest court has resolved this case after more than 15 or 16 months. Giving God the honor is the only thing that has transpired thus far.

The Supreme Court has stated unequivocally that a democracy cannot coexist with a legislature. It has never been done before. Nobody ever says that three people will form an assembly to enact laws for the entire state. Whether or not you like a person’s appearance has no bearing on them. The ability of three individuals to create state laws is crucial. Everything they had done was overturned by the Federal High Court, which stated, “No, you can’t do this.” Commissioners will be screened by three individuals. An independent arm of government, the legislature will be overthrown by a governor, and we shall act as though nothing had occurred.
