The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has announced that the Federal Government is working closely with key ministries and agencies to improve the quality of education across Nigeria, with special attention to girl-child education and teacher capacity development.
Dr. Alausa made this known during a courtesy visit to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa at the Government House in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The minister revealed that no fewer than one million teachers would be trained by 2027 under the National Educational Management System, a programme being implemented in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).
He added that President Bola Tinubu has approved significant funding to address the challenge of out-of-school children, many of whom dropped out due to economic hardship.
According to him, about one million such children have already been identified, while 300,000 pupils are being targeted under a revamped school feeding initiative designed for greater efficiency and transparency.
Aiyedatiwa Reaffirms Commitment To Quality Education, Inaugurates TESCOM Board
Governor Aiyedatiwa, in his response, commended the minister and his team for their commitment to transforming Nigeria’s education sector.
He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to leverage information and communication technology (ICT) as a key tool for educational advancement in Ondo State.
The event was attended by top government officials, including the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, and the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Prof. Adenike Oladiji, among others.
