The Oyo State Government has inaugurated a 25-member installation committee to oversee the coronation of the 46th Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, scheduled for April 5, 2024.

The inauguration took place at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters and was led by the Commissioner, Otunba Ademola Ojo. This follows the official presentation of the staff and certificate of office to Oba Owoade by Governor Seyi Makinde on January 13.

Committee Structure and Responsibilities

To ensure a smooth and well-organized coronation, the installation committee has been divided into sub-committees for effective coordination. The members include representatives from the Alaafin’s palace, Oyo State Government, and key stakeholders. Their primary goal is to uphold the rich cultural heritage of the Oyo Kingdom during the coronation ceremony, which will take place at Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo.
