‎14 Political Parties’ Candidates To Participate In Osun Governorship Poll – INEC

‎The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Osun State Office, has published the personal particulars of candidates and their running mates for the forthcoming Osun State Governorship Election, following the conclusion of party primaries and the close of submission of nomination details. ‎In a press release issued by Public Affairs Officer, Musa Olurode, the Commission disclosed

‎The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Osun State Office, has published the personal particulars of candidates and their running mates for the forthcoming Osun State Governorship Election, following the conclusion of party primaries and the close of submission of nomination details.

‎In a press release issued by Public Affairs Officer, Musa Olurode, the Commission disclosed that fourteen political parties successfully uploaded the names and particulars of their candidates within the stipulated timeframe in compliance with its guidelines.

‎The parties with Governorship Candidates listed by INEC headquarters in Abuja are Accord (A), Action Alliance (AA), African Action Congress (AAC), African Democratic Party (ADC), Action Democratic Party (ADP), All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), All Progressive Congress (APC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Action Peoples Party (APP), Boot Party (BP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Young Progressive Party (YP, and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

‎INEC stated that in line with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022 and Item 4 of the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the election, it has published the personal particulars (Form EC9) of all candidates and their running mates.

‎Copies of each candidate’s Form EC9, alongside accompanying academic credentials and other submitted documents, will be displayed at the INEC State Office and across all 30 Local Government Area offices, including the Area Office in Osun State, beginning Monday, February 16, 2026.

‎The Commission urged political parties, candidates and members of the public to inspect the published documents as provided by law, noting that the exercise is part of efforts to ensure transparency in the electoral process.

‎INEC further clarified that only the fourteen political parties that met the constitutional and regulatory requirements within the prescribed period will participate in the forthcoming governorship election.

‎The Osun State office of the Commission, under the leadership of Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, noted that the candidate details were verified in line with the constitutional and regulatory requirements before being published at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

Dr. Agboke urged Political Parties, Candidates, and Members of the Public to inspect the published documents as provided by law.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the commission to professionalism, transparency and the conduct of credible elections in line with legal provisions and democratic best practices.

Dr. Agboke called on political parties and the Public to continue to support the Commission in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.

‎Meanwhile, The People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) and Labour Party (LP)have no candidate for the Governorship Election in Osun State Governorship election.
