Following a star-studded ceremony at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat on Monday, the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Final Draw, dubbed Morocco 2025, was concluded, paving the way for the 24 qualifying teams to win the trophy. The Nigerian Super Eagles will now play Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Ahead of the finals competition, which will take place in six host towns and nine stadiums in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, the teams were divided into six groups, each with four teams, as Africa’s top teams compete for the continent’s most prized trophy. African icons Mustapha, Aliou Cissé, Joseph Yobo, and Serge Aurier helped with the draw, which was televised in more than 90 countries worldwide.

In what appears to be a fiercely contested pool, hosts Morocco will face Mali, Zambia, and Comoros after leading Group A. Egypt, the seven-time champion, will play three Southern African teams in Group B: South Africa, Angola, and Zimbabwe, the bronze medallists from the previous year. Nigeria will face Tunisia and Uganda and Tanzania, the East African countries who will co-host CAF AFCON in 2027, in Group C.

In Group D, the 2021 champions Senegal face Botswana, Benin, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In an intriguing Group E, Algeria, the 2019 champions, face Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan. In Group F, the reigning champions Cote d’Ivoire take on five-time winners and longstanding rivals Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique in an attempt to capture back-to-back championships.

The top two teams in each pool will advance to the round of 16, along with the four best Third-placed sides. Morocco is hosting the CAF AFCON for the first time since 1988
