ADC’s Allegations of Voter Data Manipulation Baseless – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State has dismissed allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that figures from the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) are being manipulated.
The ADC had recently raised concerns over possible irregularities in the online pre-registration process for the CVR in Lagos and some other states.
Reacting on Monday, the Head of Voter Education and Publicity at the INEC Lagos office, Mr. Taiwo Gbadegesin, described the claims as baseless and misleading.
According to him, the registration figures recorded in Lagos align with historical patterns and reflect the state’s demographics, particularly its large population of young and technology-savvy residents.
“In the last CVR exercise (2021–2022), Lagos State recorded the highest number of registrations nationwide. The state’s voter roll increased from 6,570,291 to 7,060,195. The current figures are consistent with this established trend,” Gbadegesin explained.
He further attributed the steady rise in registration numbers to INEC’s effective deployment of resources and the Lagos office’s sustained public enlightenment campaigns.
Gbadegesin stressed that INEC remains committed to transparency and fairness in carrying out its constitutional responsibilities.
