In order to witness the inauguration of Ghanaian President-elect John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu left Lagos for Accra, Ghana.
According to the Nigerian Television Authority, Tinubu departed from Murtala Mohammed International Airport a few hours ago.
The president-elect, who visited the Nigerian leader earlier in December, invited the president to Accra.
Mahama was reelected in December 2024 to succeed President Nana Akuffo-Addo after serving as Ghana’s 12th president from 2011 to 2017.
Tinubu will attend the ceremony alongside other African leaders in his capacity as Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West Africa States, or ECOWAS.
Tinubu will travel with Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and other high-ranking government officials.
