At the Northern Vulture Estate on Chevron Drive in Lagos, a two-story building under construction collapsed on Tuesday, resulting in at least one verified death and four injuries. Four people were seriously injured in the building fall, and one adult male died, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
The injured victims, all adult males, were quickly evacuated by emergency personnel and sent to the hospital for medical treatment by LASAMBUS officials, according to Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA.
As of the time this report was filed, the cause of the building collapse was still unknown, however LASEMA verified that a thorough investigation is in progress to identify the contributing causes.
Heavy-duty equipment has been sent to the scene to support continued search and rescue efforts, according to Oke-Osanyintolu, who also stated that the agency, along with other emergency stakeholders, effectively oversaw the initial rescue operations.
