The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, OSSIEC has reassured the public that the forthcoming local government election in the state will be transparent and credible.

This assurance comes amidst heightened public scrutiny and the commission’s aim to uphold the integrity of the democratic process by facilitating a peaceful and orderly electoral environment where every vote is counted and voices are heard.

Featuring on a special live interview programme, OSSIEC Commissioner in charge of Party Monitoring and Voter Education, Barrister Adeniyi Abioye assured that all the required logistics had been put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the election.

Abioye explained that the local government election was very crucial to engendering a functional local government system that would bring development closer to the people.

He gave assurance of the commission’s independence in the conduct of election, saying that all participating political parties in the election are given equal opportunities.

The commission also pledged to implement stringent measures and adhere strictly to electoral guidelines to guarantee that the elections are free, fair, and devoid of any malpractice.

Some callers on the programme while commending the state government for not interfering in the electoral process so far, lauded the OSSIEC for being open with the recruitment of Adhoc staff for the election exercise.
