Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has assured residents of the state of their continued safety amid reports of rising banditry in neighbouring states. He praised security chiefs and agencies for their proactive efforts in safeguarding Osun.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to uninterrupted delivery of democratic dividends across key sectors including education, health, infrastructure, ICT, agriculture, cooperative empowerment, sports, water supply, and the security of lives and property.

Responding to concerns over potential security threats, the governor disclosed that multiple high-level security meetings have been convened in recent weeks to forestall any infiltration by criminal elements.

According to him, a comprehensive security action plan has been in place for the past three weeks.

Adeleke commended the Commissioner of Police, the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Army Commander, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other security formations for their vigilance and increased capacity to repel threats.

He also acknowledged the support of the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of the DSS, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the NSCDC Commandant General.

He urged residents to remain security conscious and promptly report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.

“Security deployment is underway in strategic locations across the state. The intelligence community has a comprehensive view of possible threats in Osun. We commend the DSS for recent arrests of high-profile terrorists and the dismantling of their cells in the state,” the governor stated.

“Our security agencies are fully in control. There is no need for panic. I only appeal to our people to provide credible information whenever they notice unusual movements. Our vigilantes, hunters, and Amotekun operatives must continue to collaborate with the police to enhance community safety.”

The governor further directed the Amotekun Corps to maintain close coordination with the police and other security bodies, emphasising the need for strict adherence to established protocols in protecting residents from criminal elements.

Speaking on the local government matter before the Supreme Court, Adeleke noted that all stakeholders are awaiting the court’s ruling and urged citizens to remain law-abiding.

On the internal issues within the state judiciary, the governor expressed confidence that the judicial arm would resolve its challenges without executive interference.

Despite ongoing challenges, Adeleke assured the public that governance remains smooth, highlighting progress in the digital economy, economic empowerment programmes, workers’ welfare initiatives, and infrastructure development across the state.

“I appreciate the overwhelming support from the people of Osun. Your prayers and encouraging messages strengthen our resolve to stay focused. We remain committed to delivering good governance and democratic dividends,” he added.
