BAUCHI, Nigeria — The Bauchi State Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party on Wednesday declared that Gov. Bala Mohammed is no longer a member of the party, describing his recent claim of PDP membership as misleading, Feb. 25, 2026.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Bauchi State PDP Caretaker Committee, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the faction said it was reacting to a viral video in which the governor reportedly claimed he remained a member of the party while breaking the Ramadan fast with supporters at the Government House in Bauchi.

The committee cited the 103rd and 104th resolutions of the party’s National Executive Committee, stating that Mohammed, alongside Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Gov. Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, had been formally expelled for actions deemed inconsistent with the party’s constitution.

“For the avoidance of doubt, this claim is misleading,” the statement read.

“The Caretaker Committee wishes to respectfully draw the attention of His Excellency and members of the public to the 103rd and 104th Resolutions of the National Executive Committee of the party, wherein he, Gov. Bala, alongside Governors Seyi Makinde, Dauda Lawal and a host of others, were formally expelled from the party for actions deemed inconsistent with the constitution of the party.”

The committee stressed that the party’s position “remains clear and has not changed,” adding that public declarations or media engagements could not override the resolutions of the NEC.

“The governor’s repeated public posturing cannot override the established position of the party. They cannot be set aside by public declarations, media statements or informal engagements,” the statement said.

It urged Mohammed to demonstrate a genuine commitment to reconciliation if he wished to remain within the PDP fold, specifically mentioning the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike.

“Rather than attempting to rewrite the narrative through media appearances, if Governor Bala Mohammed sincerely desires to remain within the PDP, the appropriate course is to demonstrate genuine commitment to reconciliation with critical stakeholders he openly confronted, particularly the Hon. Minister of the FCT, His Excellency, Chief Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike,” the statement said.

Beyond the internal dispute, the caretaker committee called on the governor to focus on governance, citing rising insecurity in Bauchi State, particularly in his local government area.

The committee advised PDP members and other stakeholders in the state to treat the governor’s remarks with caution and continue supporting the state caretaker leadership.

“The integrity of the party’s processes must be preserved at all times,” the statement concluded.
