Cult Clash: Police Investigates Killings In Owo, Enforce Curfew

The Ondo State Police command says it is investigating the of killing of four persons in Owo town, by Cult group. The Police PRO, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya made this known while addressing newsmen on report of killing of a prominent youth leader, Mr. Fisayo Oladipo, aka “Fissy” and three other persons in a cult clash as affirmed by the police

It was gathered that gunmen suspected to be cult members shot dead Mr. Oladipo early this morning resulting in a reprisal attack leading to the death of the others.

Oladipo, 52, was a former APC youth leader in Owo.

The PPRO however said normalcy had returned to Owo town through the intervention of the Police while also trailing the perpetrators for arrest.

Meanwhile, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has ordered a dawn-to-dusk curfew in Owo town till further notice following the cult clash and unrest in the ancient town.

A statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, orders all residents to remain indoors during the curfew except essential services workers, including health workers and law enforcement which are exempted.

The Government also directed security agencies in the State to enforce the curfew, ensure safety of lives and properties as well as arrest perpetrators of violence in the community.
