Billionaire industrialist and President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has assured Nigerians to expect further reductions in petrol prices in the coming months, citing improving domestic refining capacity and easing supply constraints.
Dangote gave the assurance while speaking on efforts to stabilise fuel supply through local production, stressing that Nigeria’s dependence on imported refined petroleum products is gradually ending. According to him, as operations at the Dangote Refinery continue to scale up and distribution bottlenecks are addressed, competition and efficiency will drive prices downward.

He noted that local refining would save foreign exchange, reduce logistics costs, and shield Nigerians from global oil price shocks. Dangote urged patience, adding that the benefits of domestic refining would become more visible with time.
The assurance comes amid rising public concern over fuel costs and the broader impact on transportation, food prices, and household expenses.
