Klass Five Hotel, Akure, the capital of Ondo State, has been gripped by grief and fear following the gruesome murder of a prominent hotelier and socialite, Adesoji Johnson Adeleye. Adeleye, the chief executive officer of Klass Five Hotel, was found dead under horrifying circumstances inside one of the guest rooms of his own hotel, located in the bustling Arakale area of the city.

According to eyewitness accounts and media reports, the late businessman was brutally attacked late at night. Sources close to the investigation told Vanguard that the killers broke into the room where Adeleye was resting, caught him off guard, and stabbed him multiple times. Despite being awake at the time of the intrusion, he was overpowered, and his assailants waited until he succumbed to his injuries before fleeing the scene.

Speaking anonymously, a close friend of the deceased expressed profound shock and heartbreak over the incident. “We went out together last night and agreed to meet again in the morning. It’s shocking to lose him in such a brutal way,” the friend recounted. The pain in their voice echoed the sentiments of many who knew Adeleye personally—an individual described as warm, sociable, and well-loved within the Akure social circle.

Family members of the late hotel boss have confirmed that the murder has been formally reported to the Akure Divisional Police Station. Law enforcement officers promptly responded, sealing off the crime scene and collecting critical evidence. The victim’s body has since been deposited at the morgue for autopsy and further investigation.

A family source revealed that the police have already invited a number of individuals for questioning as part of their early probe. “Some people have been taken in for interrogation, and we’re hopeful that the truth will come to light soon,” the relative said.

Ondo Police Launch Full-Scale Manhunt

Confirming the tragic event, the Public Relations Officer for the Ondo State Police Command, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, stated that detectives have been dispatched to investigate the crime. “A middle-aged man was killed in his hotel premises. We have sent a team of detectives to the location, and we are currently on the trail of the perpetrators. Once we apprehend them, they will be brought to justice,” Ayanlade assured.

He further noted that the case has been escalated to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a more in-depth inquiry. This move, according to him, is aimed at ensuring a thorough investigation that leaves no stone unturned.

The shocking murder has reignited concerns over growing insecurity within Akure and its environs, particularly following a similar high-profile killing just weeks ago. In that case, well-known caterer and socialite, Mrs. Olakunbi Adene, was found murdered, with police later arresting three domestic workers in connection with the crime. The suspects were traced after investigators located the deceased’s phones in Akure and Idanre.

A Call for Justice Amid Rising Insecurity

The tragic killing of Adesoji Adeleye marks yet another disturbing chapter in Akure’s rising crime profile. The brutal nature of his death and the fact that it occurred in a supposedly secure environment have raised fresh alarms over public safety and the effectiveness of law enforcement.

As friends, family, and associates mourn the untimely loss of a man who had become a household name in Ondo’s hospitality industry, the public is anxiously awaiting justice. The Ondo State Police have pledged to bring the killers to book, but residents are calling for more proactive measures to prevent such violent crimes from recurring.

In the wake of this tragedy, many in Akure are left asking: if a prominent figure like Adeleye could be attacked so brazenly, who is truly safe?
