The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has approved the commencement of scheduled commercial flight operations at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, Ibadan, marking a major milestone in the upgrade of the facility.
The approval follows the successful completion and certification of key safety, security and operational requirements by the Oyo State Government and relevant aviation agencies. With the clearance granted, airlines can now operate regular passenger flights into and out of the Ibadan airport.
The development is expected to boost economic activities, improve connectivity, attract investment and ease travel for residents of Oyo State and neighbouring states. It also positions Ibadan as an important aviation and commercial hub in the South-West region.
State officials described the approval as a product of sustained investment in aviation infrastructure, while the NCAA reiterated that the certification was granted strictly in line with international safety and regulatory standards.
Scheduled flight operations are expected to commence as soon as airlines conclude their operational arrangements and route planning.
