The campaign organization of former Senator Iyiola Omisore has said the lawmaker has already discontinued a suit he filed over the disqualification of some governorship aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s governorship primary in Osun State.

The group disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Osogbo and signed by its Director-General, Ajibola Famurewa.

According to the statement, the suit, marked FHC/OS/CS/261/2025, Senator Iyiola Omisore v. APC & ANR, was originally filed after seven out of eight governorship aspirants were reportedly disqualified by the party’s screening panel.

The campaign organisation said the legal action was instituted to test the validity of the screening committee’s decision, which it claimed violated provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.

The clarification came following reports that details of the suit filed by Omisore against the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission had resurfaced, generating concerns within the party as preparations intensify for the August 15 governorship election in the state.

In the originating summons dated December 9, 2025, Omisore had asked a Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo to determine whether the APC could impose additional qualification or disqualification criteria on aspirants beyond those provided in the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.

Among the reliefs sought, the former senator requested the court to declare that the party could not validly disqualify him from contesting the governorship primary, having satisfied the constitutional requirements outlined in Sections 177 and 182 of the Constitution.

The originating summons also stated: “AN ORDER voiding and/or setting aside the purported disqualification of the plaintiff as an aspirant at the 1st defendant governorship primary election for the election of a governorship candidate to represent the 1st Defendant at the Osun State forthcoming Governorship Election, having failed to comply with the requirement for the nomination of candidate for election under Section 84 (2) & (3) of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended).

Omisore also asked the court to void the alleged disqualification and compel the APC to recognise him as an aspirant in its governorship primary election.

In addition, he sought an order restraining INEC from recognising any primary election conducted by the APC to nominate a candidate for the governorship election.

The suit, filed by his counsel, Kolawole Salami, was brought before Justice Adefunmilola Demi-Ajayi of the Federal High Court.

The case later became public knowledge after a court log listing matters scheduled for March 2 surfaced on social media, where the matter was listed as the 11th case for the day.

However, Omisore’s campaign organisation said the suit had since been withdrawn following interventions by prominent leaders of the ruling party.

The group specifically mentioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and elder statesman Bisi Akande as part of those who facilitated the resolution.

“Upon the intervention of the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande and other well-meaning leaders that led to Senator Omisore’s engagement of the media on a national television to follow the party’s decision and to honour Mr President,” the statement read.

The campaign organisation also accused some individuals of misrepresenting the situation in a bid to create tension within the party.

It therefore urged members of the APC and the general public to disregard reports suggesting that the suit was still pending in court.

The group further called on party members to close ranks and work together ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.
