The Presidency has accused former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, of spreading misinformation in an attempt to create unnecessary tension and divert public attention from allegations of financial mismanagement amounting to ₦432 billion. The accusation follows recent comments attributed to El-Rufai concerning national political developments.
In a statement issued by presidential aides, the Presidency described the former governor’s claims as “misleading and inflammatory,” alleging that they were designed to shift focus away from ongoing scrutiny surrounding financial dealings during his tenure in Kaduna State. The statement maintained that accountability and transparency remain central to the current administration’s governance agenda.
El-Rufai, however, has previously denied any wrongdoing, insisting that all financial transactions carried out under his administration followed due process and were in the interest of development. He has also challenged critics to provide concrete evidence to back up the allegations.
Political analysts say the exchange underscores growing tensions within the political space, as investigations and public debates over governance and accountability continue to shape national discourse.
