Unknown shooters have killed a 54-year-old prophet from the Celestial Church of Christ, Eagle Parish, in Odo Eran, Idiroko, Ogun State. Yomi Adetula, the victim, was shot during a church service on Sunday at around 10:30 a.m., and an axe seriously injured his skull. According to information obtained by the NEWSWORLD, the three attackers entered the church, pulled out a long double-barreled gun, shot the victim, and then left.
Police spokeswoman Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident to NEWSWORLD, saying the victim was discovered with his head up in the pool of his blood. According to Odutola, “Police officers rushed to the spot and found a guy Yomi Adetula, around 54 years old, lying face up in a pool of his own blood that stained his white heavenly robe, lifeless.” Upon close inspection, his corpse was covered in blets, and his head was not speared; instead, it was mangled with an axe to make sure the victim was truly dead.
Odutola stated that the body was placed at the General Hospital morgue in Ilaro thanks to the efforts of the Idiroko Divisional Police officer. “On police inquiry, information further revealed that three men came into the church, brought out a long double-barreled gun, aimed at their target, and fired a shot that brought the deceased down,” Odutola said.
Investigations into the tragic incident have been started, she said, and efforts are being made to capture the fugitive suspects who have fled to the border region.
