AKURE – There is tension in Owo town as some unknown gunmen shot dead a chieftain of All Progressives Congress(APC), Mr. Fisayo Oladipo, at Eyin Ogbe around 2:00am on Monday.

Sources disclosed that after the chieftain was killed, another person was also shot dead at Useulu area of the town.

Oladipo, who was disclosed to be a former Youth Leader in Owo Local Government Area, was said to be killed at his residence.

Following the killing of the person at Useulu, another person was also brought down by unknown gunmen at Ekusi area of the ancient town.

A mother and her child were also hit by the bullets of gunmen at Mobil area of the town.

Investigations revealed that the killings are the handiworks of rival cult groups which had face-off on Sunday night.

It was disclosed that the subsequent killings after Oladipo was killed were results of reprisal.

The mother and child were said to have been hit by the bullets of the rival groups when a member of one of the groups was sighted at Mobil area and they shot at him but escaped from the scene.

Unconfirmed report claimed that the clash was as a result of someone who was shot by a cult group a couple of years back and had since been confined to a wheelchair.

The state police Command confirmed four persons dead, but said it could not say if one of them was a chieftain of APC.
