President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly summoned Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to Abuja following violence that erupted during the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congress in Idanre and Akure North Local Government Areas.
The unrest, which allegedly claimed four lives, disrupted the party exercise and triggered heightened security concerns across the state.
According to a senior government source in Akure, the governor departed the state capital for Abuja on Thursday, shortly after the deadly incidents.
The development came at a time when Aiyedatiwa had lined up activities to commemorate his one-year anniversary in office.
He had earlier inaugurated the Igoba and Alagbaka Extension roads before cutting short his schedule.
The governor was unable to unveil a planned 100,000-litre water supply project at the Federal University of Technology, Akure Teaching Hospital Complex.
Subsequent anniversary engagements were handled by his deputy, Olayide Adelami.
Sources indicated that the presidential summons followed a series of security briefings reportedly presented to the President.

The ward congress was organised under the banner of the All Progressives Congress, Nigeria’s ruling party.
While the state is considered politically stable with limited opposition presence, the outbreak of violence reportedly displeased the President.
A government insider disclosed that Tinubu was said to be deeply concerned about the killings and sought clarification from the governor regarding the breakdown of order.
Although it remains unclear whether a formal meeting took place, Aiyedatiwa has since returned to Akure.
The President has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
Meanwhile, security agencies have intensified operations in the state following the killing of the traditional ruler of Agamo Town, Oba Kehinde Jacob Faledun.
The monarch was reportedly abducted and killed by suspected gunmen on February 18, 2026.
The tragic incident further heightened anxiety within local communities.
The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, led a high-powered delegation to assess the situation in the affected area.
The team included the Commander of the 32 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Director of the Department of State Services.
Preliminary investigations revealed that armed assailants stormed the monarch’s residence and forcefully abducted him before he was killed.
Lawal assured residents that security agencies are working collaboratively to apprehend those responsible.
He confirmed the deployment of additional tactical teams and operational assets to strengthen surveillance and restore calm.
The police chief also urged residents to provide credible information to support ongoing investigations.
Authorities emphasised that maintaining peace requires active cooperation between security agencies and local communities.
As Ondo State grapples with the dual challenges of political unrest and security threats, attention remains focused on the measures being implemented to restore stability.
The coming days are expected to reveal further details regarding the President’s concerns and the state government’s response to the crisis.
