Flight Transport Company Under Scrutiny Following Fatal Bus Accident
A fatal accident involving a commercial bus operated by Flight Transport Company has resulted in multiple casualties along the Abuja-Makurdi Highway. The tragic crash, which occurred on Thursday, left several passengers dead and others severely injured.
According to eyewitness accounts, the accident was caused by excessive speeding. One witness, who filmed the aftermath, revealed that he had earlier warned about the driver’s reckless behavior. “When this driver overtook us, I was complaining about his speed. This Flight Bus, I was complaining. Just look at it. I was complaining about the speed of this very driver,” he lamented in the video.

Growing Concerns Over Reckless Driving by Flight Transport Company
The incident has sparked public outrage, particularly on social media, where road users have expressed their frustration over the repeated involvement of Flight Transport Company in fatal crashes.
A Facebook user, Oba Ogede, reacted strongly to the news, posting: “Flight Bus again. Please check on your loved ones traveling Abuja/Makurdi. Why always Flight? Accident Flight. Arrogant drivers Flight Bus. Why always them?”
This latest accident comes less than a month after another devastating crash involving a Flight Transport Company bus along the Ore-Lagos Expressway in Ondo State. That collision, which occurred in Onipetesi, Odigbo Local Government Area, resulted in the deaths of at least 30 passengers.
The Ondo crash involved two commercial buses that collided before erupting into flames, burning 28 passengers beyond recognition. Two others succumbed to their injuries while being transported to the hospital.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) attributed that accident to reckless driving, stating in their report: “The two buses were speeding against the dictates of road traffic rules and regulations, while the GUO Transport Company bus coming from Lagos drove against the traffic to cause the terrible crash.”
Authorities Urged to Address Rising Road Fatalities
With the alarming frequency of fatal accidents involving commercial buses, many Nigerians are calling on authorities to enforce stricter road safety regulations. The FRSC and other relevant agencies are being urged to take decisive action against reckless driving, particularly among transport companies with repeated violations.
The remains of the victims from the Ore-Lagos Expressway accident were deposited at the General Hospital in Ore, while two survivors were receiving treatment at Olaoluwa Medical Clinic in Odigbo.
As investigations continue into the latest Abuja-Makurdi Highway crash, there is growing pressure on Flight Transport Company to improve its safety measures and ensure its drivers adhere to traffic laws. Road safety advocates stress that without strict enforcement and accountability, more lives will continue to be lost on Nigeria’s highways.
