ABUJA — Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that he instructed Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to personally call President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and present his Certificate of Return following his victory in the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
Wike made the disclosure on Wednesday during a media parley with selected journalists in Rivers State. According to the FCT Minister, he also advised Adeleke to issue a public statement appreciating President Tinubu after the election.

“I told Adeleke to call Mr President and go and present his certificate of return to him. I also told him to make a press statement thanking Mr President after the Osun election.”
Adeleke Won Osun Election
Adeleke was declared winner of the Osun governorship election after securing 511,067 votes, defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
After receiving his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Adeleke presented the document to President Tinubu and expressed appreciation to him over the outcome of the election.
Wike’s revelation indicates that the presentation of the certificate and the subsequent public appreciation of Tinubu followed advice he gave to the Osun governor.
Adeleke Reaffirms Support for Tinubu
The development comes shortly after Adeleke reiterated his commitment to supporting President Tinubu ahead of the next general election.
While receiving a visit from APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru on Sunday, Adeleke described Tinubu as his “dear father” and insisted that his promise to help deliver Osun votes for the President was genuine.
“I don’t make empty promises. When I said we will deliver Osun State votes to our dear father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I mean it 100 per cent.”
The governor said his fear of God would not allow him to make promises he had no intention of fulfilling.
Adeleke Calls for Political Unity
Adeleke also stressed the importance of integrity and cooperation in politics, saying political differences should not prevent people from working together for the development of Osun State.
His comments come amid political realignments following the 2026 Osun governorship election and ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The relationship between Adeleke and Tinubu has attracted attention, particularly following the Osun election and the governor’s subsequent efforts to engage political leaders across party lines.
