NAF Airstrikes Destroy Terrorist Camps in Katsina, Neutralize Bandits Behind Funtua-Gusau Road Ambushes

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has executed a successful airstrike, obliterating terrorist hideouts in Katsina State.

The operation, carried out by the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma, targeted notorious bandit camps in Unguwar Goga Hillforest, Ruwan Godiya Ward, Faskari Local Government Area.

According to a statement by Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, the precision strike was based on actionable intelligence and aimed at eliminating key criminal elements terrorizing communities.

The operation specifically targeted the fortified enclaves of two notorious bandit kingpins, Alhaji Gero and Alhaji Riga, where over 20 armed bandits were reportedly neutralized, while several others sustained critical injuries as they attempted to flee into the surrounding rocky terrain.

Preliminary assessments indicate that the strike significantly degraded the criminals’ operational capacity.

Security sources confirm that Gero and Riga played a central role in organizing ambushes along the Funtua-Gusau Road, particularly between Yankara and Sheme villages, where travelers had suffered repeated attacks.

Military authorities have described the airstrike as a major breakthrough in the ongoing counterterrorism efforts in the North-West.

The Nigerian Air Force, in collaboration with ground forces, has vowed to sustain its offensive against armed groups threatening regional security.

Meanwhile, security forces urge residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities by providing information that could aid ongoing operations.
