The United States is reportedly preparing to carry out a military execution of Nidal Hasan, the former Army major convicted of killing 13 people in a 2009 shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, with a firing squad execution said to be scheduled for December 3.

According to the report, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the planned execution and said it would be livestreamed, arguing that the public should understand the consequences of such crimes. The report also quoted Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell as saying Hegseth recommended the execution and President Donald Trump approved it following the required military appellate review.

Hasan, a former US Army psychiatrist, was convicted in 2013 for the November 5, 2009, shooting at Fort Hood, where he opened fire inside a medical facility. Thirteen people were killed and more than 30 others were wounded in the attack, one of the deadliest shootings on a US military installation.
The case shocked the United States military and prompted questions about security procedures and the handling of warning signs before the attack. Hasan was sentenced to death after his court-martial, and the case has remained a significant chapter in the history of violence at US military installations.
If the reported plan proceeds, it would mark a rare military execution in the United States. However, the specific execution date, proposed livestream and claimed presidential approval require confirmation from authoritative US government sources before they can be presented as established facts.
