Adeleke Pledges Workers’ Welfare, Promises Soft Loan Scheme

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has assured workers in the state that his administration will soon roll out a soft loan scheme for them, reaffirming his commitment to prioritizing their welfare.
The Governor gave the assurance on Wednesday at a solidarity rally organized in his honour by workers across Osun State under the umbrella of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC). The rally, held at the State Government Secretariat in Osogbo, was in response to the continued delay in the release of local government allocations by the Federal Government.

Governor Adeleke, who expressed gratitude for the workers’ support, described the rally as a demonstration of the strong bond between his administration and the workforce. He disclosed that his government was in active engagement with the Federal Government and relevant authorities to ensure the speedy release of the withheld funds.
“Our government will not relent in putting workers first. I have directed steps towards making soft loans available to you because I understand the current economic pressures,” Adeleke said.
Speaking on behalf of the workers, Osun NLC Chairman, Comrade Christopher Arapasopo, explained that the demonstration was meant to show confidence in Adeleke’s leadership. He stressed that workers would not remain silent on matters affecting their welfare, noting that despite the financial strain, the Governor had continued to pay salaries promptly.
In his remarks, Osun TUC Chairman, Comrade Abimbola Fasasi, commended the Governor’s transparency and accountability in the management of state resources. He maintained that the rally was to assure Adeleke that labour unions stood solidly with him during the period of financial constraints.
The workers, alongside affiliate unions, stormed the Secretariat with placards bearing inscriptions such as “Osun Workers Stand with Our Governor” and “Release Our Allocations Now,” while chanting solidarity songs.
