Adeleke Visits Akinlalu, Assures Justice and Lasting Peace After Communal Crisis

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Monday led a high-powered government delegation to Akinlalu in Ife North Local Government Area, following the recent communal unrest that unsettled the ancient town.

The Governor, who was accompanied by his Deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, Service Chiefs, and other top government officials, appealed for calm and assured residents that his administration remains fully committed to peace, justice, and the rule of law.

Visibly moved by the extent of the crisis, Governor Adeleke declared that his government would not tolerate any act of violence or lawlessness capable of undermining the peace and unity for which Osun State is renowned.

He disclosed that an impartial investigation into the incident has already commenced, stressing that all those found culpable will face the full weight of the law. “Our duty as a government is to protect lives and property. We are committed to ensuring justice and preventing a recurrence,” he affirmed.

The Governor reiterated his administration’s focus on peacebuilding and dialogue-driven conflict resolution, emphasizing that no individual or group, regardless of status, will be allowed to take the law into their own hands.

Addressing community leaders, youth groups, and traditional institutions, Adeleke urged collaboration with security agencies to forestall future crises, expressing optimism that enduring peace would soon return to Akinlalu. He pledged continued government support in rebuilding trust and fostering reconciliation among affected groups.

Governor Adeleke also commended the swift response of security agencies, which he said prevented further escalation of the crisis. He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to strengthen community security and engagement programs across the state, noting that peace remains the cornerstone of sustainable development.

In his remarks, the Alakinlalu of Akinlalu, Oba Israel Oloyede, thanked the Governor for his prompt intervention and compassionate leadership. The monarch described the visit as an act of true statesmanship that has restored confidence in the government’s ability to protect its citizens.

Oba Oloyede assured that the traditional council and the people of Akinlalu would continue to uphold peace and fully cooperate with government efforts, praying for divine wisdom for Governor Adeleke and his team in steering the state toward stability and progress.
