Local government chairpersons across the country have been asked by Ola Olukoyede, Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, to exercise caution and maintain responsibility in their duties.

Olukoyede underlined that they are not immune from being looked at or charged with fraud.

He made it clear that the EFCC will not wait to begin an investigation till the end of a local government chairman’s term.

Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, revealed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.

“Local government chairmen do not have immunity, and we will not wait until your tenure is over to pursue you,” the message said.
