The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has described the re-election of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji as a strong endorsement of both the ruling party and the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement issued through his Special Adviser, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda said the outcome of the Ekiti governorship election, alongside the party’s victories in several recent bye-elections, demonstrated continued public confidence in the APC’s governance philosophy despite prevailing economic challenges.
According to him, the election results reflected the ability of Nigerians to distinguish between short-term economic difficulties associated with reforms and the long-term benefits of responsible governance, economic restructuring and institutional development.

“The overwhelming victory recorded by our great party in Ekiti State and our remarkable success in the bye-elections across the country represent a powerful endorsement of the APC’s governance philosophy,” Yilwatda stated.
“These results affirm that Nigerians appreciate leadership that prioritises development, accountability, stability and the welfare of the people.”

Governor Oyebanji secured a decisive victory in the Ekiti governorship election, with the APC describing the outcome as a clear mandate for continuity and progress in the state.
Yilwatda attributed the governor’s success to what he called visionary leadership, prudent resource management, inclusive governance and visible development projects that have impacted residents across the state.
“The people of Ekiti State have once again demonstrated that performance remains the most potent campaign message in democratic politics,” he said.
“Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s resounding re-election is a reward for visionary leadership, inclusive governance, prudent management of resources and visible developmental achievements across the state.”
The APC chairman argued that the election had reinforced the party’s belief that effective governance remains the most reliable path to electoral success, even during periods of economic transition.
According to him, the Ekiti election has become a model for the party nationally, highlighting the importance of delivering tangible benefits to citizens.
“The Ekiti election has become a national reference point. It confirms that when governments deliver tangible results in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, security and social development, citizens respond with renewed trust and overwhelming electoral support,” he said.
Yilwatda maintained that the election outcome sends a broader message about the value of performance-driven leadership in Nigeria’s democratic process.
“This victory sends a clear message that governance, not propaganda, remains the most effective route to political legitimacy. The people of Ekiti have spoken loudly and clearly in support of continuity, stability and progress,” he added.
He described Ekiti State under Oyebanji as one of the APC’s strongest examples of people-centred governance, citing investments in road infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, rural development, workers’ welfare and human capital development.
The APC chairman also praised the governor for fostering political unity and maintaining stability while pursuing development objectives.
“Ekiti today stands as a shining example of how APC governments are translating public trust into measurable development outcomes. The state’s progress under Governor Oyebanji provides a practical demonstration of our party’s commitment to people-centred governance,” he said.
Yilwatda further linked the Ekiti victory to President Tinubu’s broader economic and governance reforms, arguing that the administration’s policies are laying the foundation for a stronger and more competitive economy.
He expressed confidence that the continued implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda would deliver lasting benefits to Nigerians and further strengthen public support for the APC ahead of future elections.
