The Nigerian Navy has announced the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise for Batch 39 of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School.

According to the recruitment guidelines released by the Navy, the online application portal will open on October 2 and close on October 31, 2026. Eligible applicants are required to complete their applications through the official Nigerian Navy recruitment portal.

The Navy said applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, possess a National Identification Number (NIN) and meet the stipulated educational, age, physical and medical requirements. Candidates must also be medically, psychologically and physically fit and must not have any previous criminal conviction.

For applicants using O’Level qualifications, candidates must be between 18 and 22 years old as of December 31, 2026, and possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings. The guidelines also provide separate age and qualification requirements for applicants with OND and NCE certificates, tradesmen, medical professionals and sportsmen and sportswomen.

The Navy stated that applicants must meet the minimum height requirement of 1.69 metres for males and 1.65 metres for females. Applicants must also be able to communicate in basic English, with inability to do so potentially leading to disqualification.

After completing the online application, successful applicants are expected to print their acknowledgment form, parent or guardian consent form, Local Government attestation form and guarantor’s certification form. The Navy said details of the recruitment examination, including the date and venues, would be communicated to applicants later.

The Navy further warned applicants that the recruitment process is completely free, urging them not to pay anyone claiming to have connections or influence over the exercise. It also stressed that only one valid application is permitted, adding that multiple applications will lead to disqualification.
