Fubara Reacts To Supreme Court Ruling, Reveals Next Plan
Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has recognized a significant change in the state’s ongoing political crisis with the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule and 26 other lawmakers as legitimate members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Fubara said he has taken note of the Supreme Court’s ruling on state funding and the management of local governments in Rivers in a statement issued by Commissioner for Information Joe Johnson.
We are currently expecting a thorough briefing on the judgment’s ramifications. In the greatest interests of Rivers State and its citizens, we will carefully assess the situation and decide what to do next,” the statement said.
Fubara: The Supreme Court Ignored the Defection Problem
Fubara acknowledged that the Supreme Court’s ruling essentially restored the 27 members, but he insisted that the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt still hasn’t addressed the fundamental problem of their defection, which gave rise to their contested status.
According to the statement, “Amaewhule and the other 26 are still functioning as lawmakers until that matter comes before them, since the learned Justices did not consider the issue of defection before them.”
According to news sources, Governor Fubara reassured Rivers State residents that his administration is still dedicated to defending the state’s interests and enforcing the law.
As the administration looks for clarification on the ruling and its wider ramifications, he asked citizens to maintain composure and follow the law.
