The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has urged healthcare professionals across Nigeria to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in public service.

The ICPC’s Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner (RACC) for Lagos State, Mr. Chukwurah Alexander made the call during a courtesy visit to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

In his address, Alexander emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in healthcare delivery.

“The way you carry out your duties significantly impacts public trust in governance. Therefore, service must be rendered with dedication, professionalism, and integrity,” he said.

He encouraged staff to maintain ethical standards even when unsupervised, and stressed the need for continuous education on anti-corruption laws and workplace best practices.

Welcoming the delegation, Chief Medical Director, FMC-Ebute-Metta, Dr. Adedamola Dada, expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to ethical practices.

Dr. Dada highlighted key reforms implemented over the past seven years, including a fully paperless electronic medical records system and a 24-hour power supply—initiatives aimed at curbing corruption and enhancing service delivery.

He assured the ICPC of the hospital’s readiness to partner on initiatives that reinforce anti-corruption values among staff.

The visit is part of ICPC’s broader strategy to promote transparency and good governance in the healthcare sector, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
