Ogun government, others sued over association leadership
Otunba Nurudeen Aina commonly known as Alowonle has dragged the Ogun State government and others before the National Industrial Court (NIC) Ibadan, seeking the court to proclaim him the true chairman of the Incorporated Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Ogun State (AMORAN).
He wants the court to reject the swearing-in of Otunba Taofeek Sokoya as chairman, stating that the office of the chairman was not empty and that Sokoya did not possess any executive office.
The claimant is seeking the court determine that Sokoya is not the proper person to be sworn in as acting chairman in the absence of the applicant who was on leave of absence for four months.
The litigation dated NICN/IB/07/2025 is against the Incorporated Trustees of AMORAN, the Governor of Ogun State, the Attorney General of Ogun State and the Commissioner for Justice, Commissioner for Transport Ogun State, and Otunba Taofeek Sokoya (a.k.a Danku) as first to fifth defendants respectively.
His originating summons, he is praying the court for an order declaring that there is no vacancy in the office of the applicant to warrant the fifth respondent being sworn in by virtue of provisions of Section 16(a)&(b) of the 1st respondent Constitution.
He is also requesting for an order of the court restraining Sokoya, the fifth respondent from parading himself as the chairman of the association.
“An order of the court mandating the 2nd, 3rd and 4th respondents as regulatory authorities to recognise the applicant as the legal and lawful chairman of the first respondent,” he requested, adding that the 5th respondent did not occupy any of the executive position/offices listed in Section 9(a)&(b) of the Constitution of the 1st respondent before qualifying for such position.
