ILE-IFE, Nigeria — A six-member delegation of the All Progressives Congress Elders’ Forum, known as Igbimo Agba Osun, visited former Osun State governorship aspirant Sen. The visit aimed to mend divisions within the party after disputes and grievances emerged from the primary election process.

The reconciliation effort followed the APC governorship primary in Osun State, which produced Mr. Bola Oyebamiji as the party’s candidate after some aspirants were reportedly disqualified from contesting.
Speaking during the visit, Oyedokun urged Omisore and his supporters to actively participate in the party’s campaign activities ahead of the 2026 election.
He appealed for unity, emphasizing the need for all stakeholders to work toward securing victory for the APC at the polls.
Other members of the delegation highlighted Omisore’s longstanding contributions to the party since the beginning of the current political dispensation. They also referenced his role in mobilization efforts that contributed to the election of President Bola Tinubu.
In his response, Omisore dismissed rumors and insinuations regarding his standing within the party. He commended the elders for what he described as their sense of responsibility in promoting sustainable peace within the APC.
Omisore stressed the importance of transparency and dependable leadership, warning against what he described as tendencies that marginalize sections of the state.
“There is the need for every party man and woman to develop hope of being rewarded. It is crucial, but not to work together with no or poor assurance,” he said.
“There is no politician without ambition and that is when members could give their best to ensure victory for party’s candidates.”
The meeting is seen as part of broader efforts to unify the party ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
