The distribution took place on Tuesday at the Osun State Police Command.

Speaking at the event, ALGON Chairman and Chairman of Ifedayo Local Government, Abiodun Idowu, said the initiative is aimed at enhancing rapid response, improving patrol efficiency, and tackling crime, especially in rural and hard-to-reach areas.

He emphasized that local governments, being closest to the grassroots, understand the unique security challenges within their communities and are committed to supporting efforts to ensure safety.

Idowu noted that the intervention reflects the growing impact of local government autonomy, stressing that empowered councils can respond swiftly and effectively to local needs.

“The provision of these 300 motorcycles is not only a security intervention but also a practical demonstration of the effectiveness of local government autonomy in Nigeria,” he said.

According to him, the motorcycles will significantly improve mobility, response time, and access to difficult terrains, thereby strengthening community policing across the state.

Responding on behalf of security agencies, the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, described security as a collective responsibility and called for sustained collaboration among stakeholders.

“This donation will enhance our operational capacity, particularly in hard-to-reach areas, and improve response time,” he stated.

He commended ALGON for the support and assured that the motorcycles would be used effectively.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC), through its Director of Media, Kola Olabisi, praised the reinstated council executives, hinting that more developmental initiatives are expected across the state.
