The Osun State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has officially called off its 11-month industrial action, directing all local government workers to resume duty on January 5, 2026.
The decision followed extensive negotiations between the union and the state government, which reportedly reached agreements on key welfare issues, including salary payments, arrears, and improved funding for local councils.
Speaking after an emergency congress held in Osogbo, the state NULGE leadership said the suspension of the strike was in the interest of peace and effective grassroots governance, stressing that the union would closely monitor the implementation of all agreements reached.
The union also noted that the prolonged strike had severely affected service delivery at the local government level, creating hardship for residents who rely on council services for daily administrative needs.
With the strike officially suspended, all local government offices across Osun State are expected to reopen on January 5, 2026, restoring full administrative and social services across the state.
